Evidence Base

Our work is grounded in the best available evidence on substance use disorder treatment, recovery support, and system implementation. We draw on research, federal guidance, and implementation science to design training, digital tools, and system solutions that can be used in real-world SUD environments, including those that deliver MOUD and harm reduction services.

Sources of evidence

Our approach integrates multiple forms of evidence that are widely accepted by public agencies and funders:

  • Clinical and behavioral research on MOUD, engagement, and recovery

  • Public health guidance from SAMHSA, CDC, and CMS

  • Implementation science from NIDA and federal research networks

  • Practice-based evidence from peers, clinics, and community partners

  • Equity and access frameworks used in federal and state programs

Key evidence-aligned focus areas

MOUD Access and Retention

Evidence supports medication as the standard of care for opioid use disorder, with improved outcomes when access and continuity are prioritized.

Post-Overdose and Post-Release Follow-Up

Research shows that timely follow-up after overdose, ED visits, and incarceration reduces mortality and improves engagement.

Peer and Recovery Support Services

Studies and SAMHSA guidance demonstrate that peer support improves engagement, retention, and recovery outcomes.

Care Coordination and Navigation

Implementation research shows that structured coordination improves outcomes across fragmented systems.

How evidence informs what we build

We translate evidence into practical, deployable solutions by focusing on how care is actually delivered across health, justice, and community systems. This includes designing tools that support follow-up, coordination, and engagement while respecting clinical boundaries and regulatory requirements.

Use in funded and regulated environments

Our evidence-informed approach is designed to align with the expectations of SAMHSA, NIDA, CDC, CMS, and state agencies. It supports grant-funded pilots, Medicaid programs, justice-based initiatives, and community-based services without requiring organizations to abandon their existing systems.

Put evidence into practice

We work with agencies, funders, and partners to apply this evidence base to training, tools, and system-level pilots that produce measurable outcomes.
